As a student, getting good grades is a top priority. Whether you're in secondary school or college, the pressure to perform well can be overwhelming. But don't worry, there are many things you can do to improve your academic performance. In this blog post, I'll share my top 10 study tips for better grades.

Create a study schedule - Creating a study schedule helps you stay organised and on track. Block out specific times for studying and stick to the schedule. Avoid procrastination by breaking up large tasks into smaller, manageable ones.
Find a study group - Studying with a group can be very helpful, as it allows you to share ideas and learn from each other. Whether it's a collaborative study group or a silent one, online silent study groups can provide that extra accountability and concentration to help you succeed. Make sure your study group is made up of motivated and focused individuals who are serious about improving their grades.
Get enough sleep - Getting enough sleep is crucial for optimal academic performance. Lack of sleep can affect your ability to concentrate and retain information. Research has shown sleep deprevation negatively affects hippocampus function, the part of your brain responsible for memory! Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep per night.
Eliminate distractions Distractions such as social media, TV, and video games can be major time-wasters. Turn off your phone, close unnecessary tabs on your computer, and find a quiet place to study. I have a habit of picking up my phone and scrolling through the apps, and I found after experimenting on myself, that I inherently click on game apps or YouTube whenever I see them on my phone, even when I'm not looking for them, I end up on them! Simply moving the app, or deleting it then reinstalling it after studying will help a lot!
Take breaks - Studying for long periods without taking breaks can be counterproductive. Take short breaks every hour to recharge your brain and prevent burnout.
Use flashcards - Flashcards are a great way to memorise information. Use them to study vocabulary words, math formulas, or any other important information. I've often found this useful combining this with pneumonics to remember important information.
Ask questions - If you're struggling with a concept, don't be afraid to ask questions. Reach out to your teacher, tutor, or classmates for help. If you find yourself getting stuck on a concept or topic, reaching out to a private tutor can put your mind at easy and help you understand it in an easily digestable way.
Stay organised - Keep your notes and study materials organised. Use folders, binders, or online tools to keep everything in order.
Eat healthy - Eating a balanced diet can improve your academic performance. Choose foods that are high in protein, fiber, and vitamins, and avoid sugary snacks and drinks. Staying hydrated is equally important, keep a bottle of water on your desk or in site at all times!
Stay motivated - Finally, stay motivated and focused on your goals. Remind yourself of why you're studying and the rewards of doing well academically.
In conclusion, getting good grades requires effort, discipline, and focus. By following these top 10 study tips, you can improve your academic performance and achieve your goals. Good luck!
